Village Stores Evicted!
September 21st, 2008 3:57 PM
How many stores actually got evicted in Old Hyde Park Village? Georgette's, Nature's Cafe, The Gallery.... Will these stores move to another location or be done for good? What other stores got the eviction notice? In a way it's good that the condo plans are moving forward, but how much good will this really do for Hyde Park? Will the condos sell? Will the retail space get filled? We need shops and we need people to spend money at these shops this holiday season! What stores will stay? What stores will move? What NEW stores will come? Anyone know?

How Long Do you Hold the Door for Someone?
September 18th, 2008 1:41 PM
I was walking into the Pottery Barn in Old Hyde Park Village today and the guy in front of me held the door open for me. Once I got to the door I looked back and saw a woman walking toward Pottery Barn, looking at me and I knew she was coming in too. She was still closer to the fountain though, then Pottery Barn. HOW FAR AWAY DOES THE PERSON HAVE TO BE FOR YOU TO CONTINUE HOLDING THE DOOR FOR THEM? Once the woman and I even made eye contact, I knew that I had to hold it and wait. It's a mind thing. The first knowledge that I know that THEY know I see them, it's all over. What do you think proper etiquette is in door holding?   Thursday, September 18, 2008

Why Isn't Old Hyde Park Thriving?
September 15th, 2008 3:21 PM

I don't understand it. From the most adorable stores such as Anthropologie, Pottery Barn, Abbott's Custard, City Street Sweets..... To the most enjoyable of restaurants, The Wine Exchange, Timpano's, and B.T. to name a few..... A fantastic gym that Lifestyle Family Fitness......and a beautiful, quaint, historic and luxury living town of Hyde Park Tampa, WHY ISN'T THAT PLACE PACKED MORNING, NOON AND NIGHT?! I can't believe families aren't walking around the fountain, going out for ice cream every night and packing restaurant lines. And the stores?!! How can they be going out of business? This is prime real estate! Everyone wants a storefront here. I understand when there are 10 million Starbucks you have to close a couple thousand down, but what the heck is up with the exclusive shops of the Old Hyde Park Village?!
